If you’re living with OCD, you may feel trapped in a relentless cycle of intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that seem to take up more and more space in your life. You might feel exhausted from trying to "figure it out," ashamed about the content of your thoughts, or confused about why you can’t just let things go.
The harder we try to control or avoid the anxiety, the more it seems to control us. It’s not that you're broken or weak—it’s that your brain is doing its best to keep you safe, but it’s using strategies that have gotten stuck in overdrive. Obsessions and compulsions can get worse over time, despite your every effort, making life smaller and smaller.
If those patterns of fear and avoidance are making your world smaller, it's important to know: it’s possible to live with more freedom, even when anxiety shows up—and I’d be honored to walk that path with you.
In our work together, we’ll use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD, infused with the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We'll help you feel adequately resourced, and then practice doing the hard (and brave) thing of being with the feeling of fear without engaging in compulsions or avoidance.
You’ll learn how to gently unhook from the stories your mind tells you, and reconnect with what actually matters to you. Of course this is easier said than done- and it's why willpower isn't enough, no matter how smart or strong you are. That's why support and skill matter.
Instead of trying to control your thoughts or eliminate your anxiety, we’ll focus on building a new relationship with them—one grounded in curiosity, willingness, and self-compassion. We'll figure out what you want your life to stand for, and take small, courageous steps in that direction.
Over time, the things that once felt impossible start to feel doable. You don’t have to be “sure” or “comfortable” to start living a meaningful life—you just have to be willing. If that sounds unreachable, that's ok- I’ll be right there with you as you learn how.
